Тема доклада: "Convergence of Russian regions: different patterns for poor, middle and rich".


Аннотация доклада:

 " The subject of this research is the examination of gross regional product per capita convergence of 80 Russian regions for 2000-2014. All regions in the examination were split into three groups (poor, middle and rich). With the help of a specially developed spatial-econometric model, significant differences between identified groups of the regions were found. A convergence was revealed out only for middle and rich regions, and rate of convergence was much higher for the rich regions. It has been shown that under neglecting of the spatial effects the speed of conditional convergence will be overestimated. According to the results obtained, it is necessary to develop transport infrastructure and stimulate small enterprises in poor regions in order to stimulate economic growth in them" .
