Seminar "Russian economic thought as a mirror of the first industrial revolutions"

Abstract:

The paper offers a new retrospective for reviewing the evolution of economic thought in pre-revolutionary and revolutionary Russia. It traces the influence of the European Industrial Revolution (Industry 1.0), the transport and communications revolution of the 19th century, and the Second Industrial Revolution (Industry 2.0) on various schools and trends of Russian economic thought. The central place is given to the reflection of Industry 2.0 in the works of Russian political economists of the historical direction. Attention is drawn to the entry into the Russian political economy discourse of the concepts of "industrial entrepreneurs", "industrial revolution", "scientific and technological progress", "modernization". Separate sections are devoted to the influence of Industry 2.0 on the agrarian-evolutionary school, the spatial-industrial "Eurasian" direction and the concept of "material prerequisites of socialism".
