Presentation of the book "State Planning Commission under the Council of People's Commissars of the USSR. 1941–1945. Book 2"

The HSE Center for History and Methodology and the Society of Historians of Economic Thought are launching a series of seminars dedicated to Russia's national economic system. The events will discuss a wide range of issues related to the country's formation, past transformations, and potential development trajectories.

The seminar series opened with the presentation of the second volume of the monograph "The State Planning Commission under the Council of People's Commissars of the USSR. 1941–1945." This book traces the development of Gosplan as an institution of public administration during the Great Patriotic War. The analysis focuses on Nikolai Alekseyevich Voznesensky, Chairman of Gosplan in 1938–41 and 1942–49. This work is a scholarly study of the mechanism for managing the USSR's national economy during a critical period in the country's history, disentangling itself from ideological positions both praising and harshly criticizing the Soviet economic system.

The following authors spoke at the book presentation:

  • Scientific Editor — A.A. Belykh (RANEPA)
  • A.Yu. Klimanov (HSE University)
  • M.N. Potemkina (G.I. Nosov Moscow State Technical University)
  • A.V. Safronov (RANEPA)

Opening remarks: D.V. Melnik (HSE University)
