The scientific-academic laboratory for spatial econometric modeling of socio-economic processes in Russia is engaged in assessing the impact of various macroeconomic shocks and policy measures on the economic development of regions, firms, and households in Russia.

The main areas of research of the laboratory include:

  • studying the reaction of Russian regions to macroeconomic shocks in recent years; factors influencing their socio-economic sustainability, as well as the role of macroeconomic policy in shaping regions’ resilience to macroeconomic shocks;
  • analysis of factors influencing housing affordability in Russian regions, comparison with corresponding factors for European countries, assessment of changes in the influence of factors associated with macroeconomic shocks in recent years;
  • study of changes in the consumption structure of Russian households under the influence of the crises of recent years.

Head of the Laboratory for Spatial Econometric Modeling of Socio-Economic Processes in Russia Olga Demidova took part in the second international conference on sustainable regional development in Central Asia. The conference was promoted by RSAI (the Regional Science Association International) in collaboration with Samarkand branch of Tashkent state university of economics, Samarkand, Uzbekistan. The event took place on May 6–7, 2024.
