Presentation of the new issue of the almanac "Istoki"

The professor’s club on Pokrovka hosted the presentation of the 9th edition of the almanac under the heading "Economics - the Dismal Science?"

The presentation of the new issue of the almanac "Istoki" took place on October, 24th. The ninth volume of the almanac is called "Economics - the Dismal Science?" and refers readers to the pamphlet by Thomas Carlyle, where the author, discussing the justification of slavery in the American colonies, described political economy as a "dismal Science".

 

The staff of the Center for the History and Methodology of Economic Science - Vladimir Avtonomov, Denis Melnik, Natalia Makasheva and Anton Galeev took part in the preparation and the presentation itself.
