On March 13, 2020, Ekaterina Kulinicheva spoke in Kaluga with the popular science lecture "How sports shoes got out of the gym to city streets and fashion catwalks", which is dedicated to the history of sports shoes in the context of everyday life history.

How did sports shoes get out of the gym to city streets and fashion catwalks?

The lecture was held at the Innovation Cultural Center. During the meeting, Ekaterina Kulinicheva discussed with the audience individual vivid episodes from the cultural and social biography of sports shoes related to non-sports, which she analyzed as part of her research project on the history of sneakers. She also told on how the historian works with such topics from history of fashion and everyday life, finds new cases, develops methods for their analysis and interpretation, and thereby expands the audience’s knowledge about seemingly familiar things and practices.
