The Department of Applied Economics, National Research University Higher School of Economics (HSE) in collaboration with The Competition and Regulation European Summer School (CRESSE) are organizing a Workshop in Economic Analysis and Competition Law Enforcement. The goal of the workshop is to bring together specialists from different countries to discuss the role of economic modeling and economic analysis in competition policy, particularly in BRICS countries in comparison with mature jurisdictions.   

Participation

Researchers, faculty, and PhD students are welcome to participate. Submissions of theoretical, policy oriented or empirical papers related to any of the main aspects of competition policy or sectoral regulation, especially stressing comparative perspectives, are welcomed. Research papers related to topics of the “Role of economic analysis in competition law enforcement” and the “Choice of Legal standards in enforcement” will be prioritized.

Special Seminar on “The tools and techniques of empirical analysis in antitrust enforcement”

During the workshop Eduardo P. Ribeiro (Associate Professor, Institute of Economics, Federal University of Rio-de-Janeiro, former commissioner of Brazilian competition authority – CADE – see home page https://www.gdec-ie.com) will present an eight-hour seminar on the tools and techniques of empirical analysis in antitrust enforcement, using stylized data on competition enforcement. Two topics will be specifically covered: demand estimation for antitrust market delineation and cartel damages assessment.

The seminar will be held in computer class. Places are limited for up to 30-35 persons, participants will be registered on ‘first comes first served’ basis.

Submissions for the workshop are open till April 15, 2018. Abstracts (up to 500 words) should be sent to avdash@hse.ru and svgolovanova@hse.ru.

Final decision on application will be communicated by April 22, 2018.

Registration to participate in the Special Seminar on tools and techniques of empirical analysis in antitrust enforcement is open till May 15, 2018.There are no special requirements for participation in Special Seminar. Please send a letter to GYusupova@hse.ru.
