In April, children’s playrooms will open at two HSE University locations. Parents will be able to leave their children under supervision for a few hours to attend classes or perform work duties. Here are frequently asked questions about the playrooms.

Where are the playrooms located and at what time will they be open?

The rooms are located in the building at 11 Pokrovsky Boulevard (L 109) and in the building at 21/4 Staraya Basmannaya Street, building 1 (A 112). Opening hours: from 8:30 to 21:00.

What is the approved age range for the playrooms?

The playrooms are designed for children aged 3 to 12. The rooms are also equipped with changing tables, which can be used by parents of children under 3 years old.

What kinds of activities do the playrooms offer for kids?

The rooms are equipped with soft magnetic building sets, chalk boards, and screens for showing cartoons. In the future, educational events and master classes for children will be organised.

Who will provide supervision and care for the children?

The room will be supervised by an administrator with specialized pedagogical, medical, and psychological education who has experience with working with children aged 3 and up.

Who can use the playroom? Are there any requirements for visiting?

The room can only be used by HSE staff and students. To visit the room you’ll need to make an appointment in your MyHSE services account. Parents will be able to choose and book a convenient date and time for the visit, fill out and attach all necessary documents: consent to the short-term stay of the child and supervision and care for him/her, a visitor's questionnaire, and scanned documents proving the identity of the child and the parent.

For how long can parents leave their child?

The child can stay in the playroom no more than 4 hours a day.

How many children can be in the playroom at once?

Up to 15 children can be in the playroom at a time. But for the duration of the restrictions imposed due to the spread of the COVID-19, up to 7 children at a time may be in the room.

Will my child be able to nap or have a snack during their time in the playroom?

The playroom is not equipped for sleep. Also, according to sanitary rules and norms, food and drinks (with the exception of simple drinking water) are prohibited in the playroom.

What will the staff do if my child needs medical care?

The administrator will call an ambulance, immediately contact the parent at the contact phone number specified in the questionnaire, and inform the supervisor of any medical emergency. There are also medical offices at HSE buildings on Pokrovsky Boulevard and Staraya Basmannaya.

How will the children be evacuated in case of an emergency?

In accordance with the fire safety regulations, playrooms are located on the first floors of buildings near the evacuation exits. The evacuation will be carried out in accordance with the instructions for the evacuation of people in case of fire.

For more information about the playrooms schedule and regulations, please see the page of the Office of Staff and Student Benefits (in Russian).
