About the Department
The Department of Applied Economics brings together highly qualified specialists in quantitative analysis, primarily econometrics and institutional analysis. Besides that our lecturers also specialize in labour economics and personnel management, economic analysis of social issues and public policy, competitiveness and market research, economic analysis of law.
Research projects of our Professors are highly assessed by international and Russian scientific community.
In its 25th anniversary year, HSE has marked new achievements, entering the Top 50 in the Times Higher Education (THE) Young University Rankings among universities under 30 years old, and in the Top 100 in the global Young University Rankings under 50. HSE has become the first Russian university to enter the top list of THE Young Universities, a global institutional ranking.

RSF announced the results of two its competitions. 10 applications from HSE are among the winners, including the project of Ovsey Shkaratan, professor of our department, HSE tenured professor.
HSE’s Faculty of Business and Management and Faculty of Economic Sciences were in the top three of the faculties most sought after by employers in Russia.

HSE "Signs of Honour" awarded at the Scholar Council's meeting. Congratulations to Tatiana KOSSOVA, Associate Professor of our Department with this award.
March 25, at a meeting of the Scholar Council university prizes were awarded to four distingueshed employees. Among them - Associate Professor of our department T.V.Kossova, awarded the Medal of HSE II degree.

Zaruhi Hakobyan, Research Master Program in Economics alumna and prospective doctoral student at the Faculty of Economic Sciences, shares her impressions on the participating in Israeli Victor Rothschild Memorial Symposium. In summer 2016 four students from the Faculty of Economic Sciences attended, three of them were partially funded by the Symposium and the Faculty of Economic Sciences.
