Summer Program "Politics of Nature", Lapland

Man, Nature and the Limits of Modernity

The School is held annually at the Kilpisjärvi Biological Station of the University of Helsinki, 400km behind the Polar Circle, in Arctic wilderness. The School is a unique educational and environmental experience – retreating into nature in order to understand the limits and challenges of the modern world. Since 2007, over 250 students from Russia, Finland, Germany, Italy, Norway, and the US took part in the School. Free time activities include sauna, campfire, trekking in the tundra, and bicycle rides.
