Did your life change after your semester in Moscow?

- Absolutely!
answers Kerri Matulis, University of Texas at Austin alumna, who was interning at the Faculty of Economic Sciences a year ago for the HSE- NES Joint Program in Economics. Read what she has to say about it now.

A year ago this time you were in Moscow, at HSE. How you can describe that time now?

- At HSE, I had the opportunity to work with and meet many talented students and professors. While I worked at the [NES] Merrill Lynch Writing and Communication Center, helping students with their personal statements, resumes, and CVs, I also served as an assistant with Dr. Ashley Squires, aiding students in group discussions related to their assigned readings. The skills I learned have effectively served me in my current position and I know, will aid me in graduate school.

- Did your life change after your semester in Moscow? If yes, how?

Absolutely! After I returned from Moscow, I knew that I wanted to continue to study the Russian language and learn more about the culture. I applied that fall to Masters degree programs in Russian and East European Studies and will now be attending graduate school in September.

- What is your most unforgettable memory of that time?

One of my most unforgettable memories was traveling to Estonia, Latvia, and Lithuania with two friends that I met through the program. The opportunity to travel and see more of the world was truly amazing!

- A fun fact?

I started running again, while living in Moscow! I frequently ran across Borodinsky Bridge and around Park Pobedy. This was definitely the best way to see the city!
