International Partners Week Boosts Cooperation

During first week of April representatives of National Research University Higher School of Economics participated in the Second International Partners Week held by University of Luxembourg

At the second staff week in Luxembourg, HSE was represented by three staff members, Oxana Budjko, from the faculty of economic sciences, Darya Bazavlyuk, from the faculty of law and  Alyona Sutormina from the International Business program. Thirty five participants, representing universities from more than a dozen of countries, had a chance to explore the opportunities of the new campus of University of Luxembourg in Belval, built on the basis of XX  Century steelworks factory. Together with the Rockhal, Luxembourg's largest music venue, University campus make Belval a genuine European center for science, education, arts and culture.

Picturesque landmarks of steelworks will definitely attract eyes of steampunk and industrial style lovers. The visitors enjoyed tours around campus and new library - Learning Center, built in a quaint collaboration with a former steelworks shop, is suitable both for group and individual works, in full quet free of gadgets and in crowded areas full of other students. The library is open to general public as well.

Participants also visited students cafeterias, Faculty of Science, Technology and Communication, to engage themselves in physical experiments, Faculty of Law and Economics, a walking tour of Luxembourg city center, and enjoyed other activities, for example, studying Luxembourgish language. Five days ran fast not only due to engaging workshops and presentations, but also due to careful planning and implementation by the University of Luxembourg International Relations Office. 

University of Luxembourg teaches about six thousand students, about half of them are not Luxembourgers. Being a very young institution it is very active partner of the Faculty of Economic Sciences. Every year four students from the Faculty of Economic Sciences start their dual degree master program in Luxembourg. This group of students from Russia is doubled by the most number of doctoral students, graduates of Higher School of Economics, studying in one program simultaneously, outside of HSE. Starting from 2019, University of Luxembourg is going to send their students to study at the Faculty of Economic Sciences’ master programs, Applied Economics, Economics: Research program, Strategic Corporate Finance that are, starting from September 2019 all taught in English. 

 


Andrei Kostyrka, graduate of the HSE's Faculty of Economic Sciences bachelor and master programs, PhD student at University of Luxembourg, is performing his composition to celebrate 15 years anniversary of University of Luxembourg.

During the HSE Partner Week  and Exchange Fair that will take place in June, 17 - 21, 2019, in Moscow HSE welcomes representatives of partner universities, including those of University of Luxembourg
