International Students Meet the Faculty of Economic Sciences and HSE University Leadership

Masters students at the Faculty of Economic Sciences met the faculty Dean, Professor Pekarski, HSE Director for Internationalization Dr. Kisel, vice-dean Liudmila Zasimova and other staff on September 12. The meeting was held in English, so primarily it was oriented on the students who do not speak Russian language and study at the English taught programs at the Faculty of Economic Sciences. Students from all programs were present. They represented various counties, like Ghana, Nigeria, India, China, Sri-Lanka, Philippines, Tadjikistan, Gambia and Pakistan.

Dr. Kisel started the meeting with the different ways of support for international students offered by the student support office at HSE, as well as extracurricular events organized for and by students. Dean Professor Pekarski welcomed the students and wished them to study very well since the Faculty of Economic Sciences programs are quite challenging. Vice-dean Liudmila Zasimova shared her experience of first days of study in Sorbonne and advised students to be present in class and get in touch with professors more often, as well as noted the diversity of the current international students.

Dr. Kuznetsova, Academic Supervisor of the Economics and Economic policy program promised to make life of the international students harder, since the standards of graduate programs are very high, but at the same time she is aspiring to see everyone at the commencement in just two years, which will be a lot of fun.

Dr. Bukin, who teaches Math for economists for the graduate students, invited students to visit him during office hours to talk about their math progress or issues should they have any.

After the presentation of the staff, each student said their name, city and country they are from, and asked questions about their possible internships, PhD program and additional ways of support for students.
