Founded in 1992, the HSE Faculty of Economics is the university’s oldest faculty. In the years since it was founded, it has gained a reputation as Russia’s leader in terms of higher economic education.
A fundamental education in modern economic theory and mathematics is combined with the study of applied disciplines, such as taxation, budget policies and processes, financial management and other related fields.

Andrei Yakovlev, the director of IIMS and ICSID, is accepted as a Research Ambassador at the University of Bremen (Germany). He was appointed by the Rectorate of the University at the suggestion of the Faculty of Business Studies and Economics. Professor Yakovlev will represent the University in Russia and Eastern Europe and act as a liaison between any prospective students and researchers and the University of Bremen.
Andrei Yakovlev completed a research stay at the University financed by the Alexander von Humboldt Foundation in July 2002-September 2003. He has been in close touch with the University of Bremen since then: professor Yakovlev has a long-standing collaboration with the Faculty of Business Studies and Economics, Faculty of Social Sciences as well as with the Research Centre for Eastern Europe.
The Research Ambassadors Program was first launched at the University of Bremen in order to build a community of former students and researchers of the University and also establish and strengthen an international network. At the moment 11 members from various countries and disciplines were appointed as the Research Ambassadors.
