In January 2012, 13 students of the Higher School of Economics visited Singapore as part of the ‘iConnect: Connecting global Youths. Inspiring future Entrepreneurs’ exchange programme organized by the students from the National University of Singapore.
On the 2nd December 2011 HSE students met with a young Czech economist Tomáš Sedlacek, author of the bestselling ‘Economics of good and evil’, Oxford University Press, 2011.
From November 23rd – 29th 2011, a training programme for national managers on the Assessment of Higher Education Learning Outcomes (AHELO) project took place at the Organization for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD) headquarters in Paris. The HSE is one of the coordinating universities for this project and representatives from our university attended this event.
On October 20th 2011 the winners of a competition organized by the HSE Innovation and Enterprise Office were announced, with the successful entrants going on to visit the National University of Singapore from January 13th – 20th 2012 as part of a student exchange programme.
On the September 19th Eric Maskin, Nobel laureate in economics, Professor at the Institute for Advanced Study, Princeton University (USA), Chief Research Fellow at the HSE International Laboratory of Decision Choice and Analysis, arrived in Moscow again. What is his programme for this visit to the HSE?
From August 23rd-27th a meeting of Nobel laureates in economics took place in Lindau, Germany. This event is traditionally organized once every three years. Henry Penikas, lecturer at the HSE Department of Mathematical Economics and Econometrics and one of the participants at this meeting, told us about the event.
On June 24th this year’s final session of the HSE Academic Council took place at the HSE, where original educational standards and new editions of educational procedures were approved and new departments of the university were founded.
Martin Carnoy, Professor at the Stanford University (USA) and Academic Supervisor of the HSE International Laboratory for Educational Policy Research, told us about some of the tasks and plans for the Laboratory.

On November 25th and 26th the first meeting of the HSE International Expert Council on the priority area of development Economics took place at the HSE. Vladimir Avtonomov, Dean of the HSE Faculty of Economics, Franz Hubert, Professor at the Humboldt University Berlin, Andrey Yakovlev, Vice Rector of the HSE, and Richard Jackman, Professor at the London School of Economics and Political Science, told us about the results of the meeting.
