Faculty of Economic Sciences Holds Math BootCamps for Those Starting Bachelor’s and Master’s Degrees

More than 200 future bachelor’s and master’s students from around the world spent the last two weeks of summer improving their mathematical knowledge and honing their problem-solving skills. The free online classes have been held for the fourth year in a row. They allow first-year students not only to succeed in their studies, research, and project activities at HSE University’s Faculty of Economic Sciences (FES), but also to quickly integrate into the international community of students, graduates, and teachers.

HSE University’s Support and Career Centre for International Students and Alumni has held orientation sessions for incoming international students. During the meetings, the centre’s experts explained the visa and migration support available, talked about extracurricular student life, and gave tours of the campus and the city.

‘My Prep Year Experience Has Been Phenomenal; I Would Repeat It All over Again if I Could’

The International Preparatory Year programme held its graduation ceremony in July. This academic year, 125 students from 50 countries were enrolled in the programme. They will continue their studies at Russian universities, most of them pursuing bachelor's and master's programmes at HSE University. The graduation was organised as a quest, where the students were able to demonstrate their achievements in learning the Russian language. Graduates from Ecuador, Syria, and Mexico shared their impressions with the HSE News Service, Deputy Director Polina Shanko talked about plans for the coming year, and mathematics teacher Vladimir Gordin gave his advice to future students.

First Graduates of the Online Master's Programme ‘Economic Analysis’ Defend Their Theses

The cost of apartments in Vladivostok, the volatility of cryptocurrencies, the consumption of ferrous metals in different countries, the communications of the National Bank of Kazakhstan, the results of state motherhood support measures — these and many other diverse issues were covered in theses by ‘Economic Analysis’ graduates, which they defended in mid-June.

Students of the School of Finance took part in the Iseo Summer School, a school with Nobel laureates, which was held in a small town in Italy - in the province of Brescia. This year topic was: “The World After. Challenges Ahead for the Global Economy”. This summer school was organized by the I.S.E.O. and has been running since 2004.

Egor Pashkov, Corporate Finance Center fellow researcher and a first-year Master in Financial Markets and Institutions, took part in the annual 19th International Summer School of Economics I.S.E.O.
