The Moscow-based Faculty of Economic Sciences at the HSE University, a highly selective educational institution specializing in economics and finance, invites undergraduate and Master's-level students to experience study abroad in the modern and dynamically developing National Research University - Higher School of Economics. HSE International Summer University in Moscow and Russian language intensive course are accepting applications. Faculty of Economic Sciences offers both academically challenging and interesting courses delivered by prominent faculty members.

More than 40,000 participants from 183 countries have already registered for the Open Doors Scholarship Competition. The competition, which is held by the Association of Global Universities, gives international applicants the opportunity to enroll tuition-free in a Master’s programme of a participating Russian university of their choice without having to take entrance exams. The deadline to submit your portfolio for consideration is December 18.

This fall, Madhavi Karunarathne came to HSE University from Sri Lanka, where she earned her bachelor’s in finance at the University of Colombo. She is now beginning her studies in the Master’s Programme ‘Strategic Corporate Finance’. The new master’s student came through Russia’s Open Doors Scholarship Project for international prospective master’s students, which allows scholarship recipients to study at one of 21 participating Russian universities tuition-free. Madhavi spoke with HSE News Service about why she chose HSE, what it was like to participate in the Open Doors Scholarship competition, and how she is liking her studies.

International students who are interested in applying to a bachelor’s or master’s programme at HSE University for Fall 2020 may now do so online.

Yogender Singh and Samarth Singh are second-year undergraduate students at the Indian Institute of Technology Bombay. Without official partnership between the two universities, both Yogender and Samarth took the initiative to apply to HSE themselves. This summer, they are completing two-month research internships at the HSE International Laboratory of Decision Choice and Analysis, under the wings of Professor Fuad Aleskerov.

Coming from Lebanon but with personal ties to Russia, Hisham Haydar will be starting the second year of the Master’s in Economics: Research Programme this September. The strength of HSE University’s standing in international rankings led Hisham to choose HSE in Moscow for his advanced training in economics. In the hope that other international students will be motivated to apply to HSE, he recently shared his perspective on everything from the application process to the workload to life in Moscow.
