Any student or 2020 graduate of a Russian or international university is eligible to take part in the Student Research Paper Competition. Papers can be submitted from September 1 to October 15. The competition has been held at HSE University since 2003.

The HSE International Summer University completed its 2020 session on August 20. Due to the pandemic, the programme was held online for the first time. Students from all over the world met on Zoom to study Russian language as well as take a variety of subject specific courses and participate in informal activities.

This year, for the first time in its history, one of HSE’s biggest events will be held online. Expertise and a casual atmosphere, science and games, music and sports – everything we love about it will remain, but thanks to the endless possibilities of the virtual reality, anyone from any part of the world can join the festivities of the Brand New HSE Day.

Owoeye Gbolahan, who is starting the Master's programme in Applied Economics this year, speaks about the importance of perseverence and his experience with applying to HSE Univeristy, which proves that is it important to always take a second chance.

HSE University’s International Preparatory Programme has awarded diplomas to the class of 2020. International students completed their yearlong intensive studies that included a Russian language course and a variety of subject specific courses. The aim of the preparatory programme is to help international students get ready to enroll in Russian-taught full degree programmes at HSE and other Russian universities

Tu Phan is a second-year student in HSE University’s Master’s programme in Strategic Corporate Finance. She is an international student with a lot of experience living abroad: besides Vietnam, she has lived (and studied) in Azerbaijan, Italy, and now Russia. Tu told us about her studies, how her life has changed since moving to Russia, what life is like in the dorms, and even how Russian and Vietnamese babushkas are similar!

Syeda Ulya Ehsen Kazmi, PrepYear alumna and soon-to-be Master's student of the Economics: Research Programme on what she learned from researching different universities, applying to HSE, and participating in the PrepYear programme.

HSE University has taken 41st place, becoming the only Russian university on the Top 50 of the Times Higher Education Young University Rankings.
