About the Faculty

Founded in 1992, the HSE Faculty of Economics is the university’s oldest faculty. In the years since it was founded, it has gained a reputation as Russia’s leader in terms of higher economic education.

A fundamental education in modern economic theory and mathematics is combined with the study of applied disciplines, such as taxation, budget policies and processes, financial management and other related fields.

HSE Seminar on Political Economy: Chris Berry (University of Chicago) about Leader Effects

Chris Berry explained the quantitative test of leader effects (RIFLE), that allows researchers to test a null hypothesis of no leader effect and also estimate the proportion of variation in an outcome variable attributable to leaders vs. other factors. To demonstrate the substantive value of RIFLE, he implemented it for world leaders, U.S. governors, and U.S. mayors and for several outcomes. This results improve understanding of where, when, and why leaders matter.

The HSE School of Finance recently held a roundtable discussion dedicated to public non-financial reporting. The keynote presentation was delivered by Stefano Zambon, Professor at the University of Ferrara (Italy), who is also the Chairman of the World Intellectual Capital Initiative (WICI), a global network engaged in the systematization and dissemination of information on the intellectual capital indicators and modes for presenting it in non-financial reporting.

Students of the Faculty of Economics Won the Case Championship ‘Sanofi Health Guardians’
On February 24 – 25 the semifinal and final of the largest championship in the pharmaceutical field, theSanofi Health Guardians, took place in Moscow. Students from the ICEF and HSE Faculty of Economics Radmila Khusainova, German Bushin, Ivan Fokin, Kamila Musina, Alexander Nosulich and Oleg Kheifets won the contest.
